Book launch: ‘Nodi No-nonsense Guide to ALN law in Wales’ 2024

05/11/24

With changes to Welsh SEN law, now transitioning to the new ALN (Additional Learning Needs) framework by August 2025, we are delighted to announce our collaboration with Civitas Law on the new FREE No-nonsense Guide covering the Welsh law.

The new ‘Nodi No-nonsense Guide to ALN law in Wales’ follows in the footsteps of the invaluable ‘Noddy No-nonsense Guide to SEN law’ (affectionately known as the ‘Noddy Guide’), an essential resource for Tribunal judges in England and Wales for over 20 years. The Welsh guide will bring together the relevant legal provisions, the codes of practice, Government guidance and case law into one much needed regularly updated free public resource.

Join us on 5 November 2024 for the launch of the new Nodi No-nonsense Guide and a panel discussion, hosted by Civitas Law, with experts including Cath Keegan-Smith (Cardiff Education and Inclusion), Christopher McFarland (Sinclair’s law), Dr Rhian Croke (Policy Advocacy & Strategic Litigation Lead, Children’s Legal Centre Wales) & SNAP Cymru.

The Guide is written by Cathrine Grubb, Owain Rhys James, Alys Elen Williams, Isabelle Knight and Crash Wigley, members of the Education Law team at Civitas law barristers’ chambers. The team give special thanks to “David Wolfe KC (Matrix) and Leon Glenister (Landmark), who produce the Noddy Guide to SEN law (in England) and who initiated this project, for their guidance and editorial input. Civitas Law also express their gratitude to Rachel Amos (Support SEND Kids), Cath Keegan-Smith (Cardiff Council), Chris McFarland (Sinclair’s Law) and the team at SNAP Cymru and the Children’s Legal Centre Wales, who have provided valuable feedback and insight from their varying perspectives and considerable experience of the ALN system.”
