Announcing our partnership with SNAP Cymru. A Welsh national charity which supports families of children and young people with ALN (Alternative Learning Needs). Like Support SEND Kids, SNAP believes: “good quality information can help children, young people and their families know what to expect and to make informed decisions.”
The change in Welsh law, moving to the new Welsh ALN from the English SEN system, lead to the publication of our Nodi No-nonsense Guide to ALN law in December 2024. This Guide has brought us closer to those giving help to Welsh families and we are delighted to announce a new partnership with SNAP Cymru. Working together we’ll combine our complementary strengths, with Support SEND Kids providing training, on Additional Learning Needs law and the Equalities Act, to the SNAP team, broadening and accelerating support given to all families. We look forward to our work together.
We encourage all our families and followers living in Wales to visit SNAP Cymru. The charity’s main aim is to advance the education of people in Wales and support their inclusion. SNAP Cymru offers free and independent information, advice and support to help get the right education for children and young people with all kinds of special educational needs (SEN)/additional learning needs(ALN)and disabilities. We give advice and support on a range of issues including assessments, individual education plans, statements of special educational needs, bullying, school attendance, exclusion, health and social care provision and discrimination. We also provide advocacy, disagreement resolution, discrimination advice, advocacy and training for young people, parents and professionals.
